Essential Eats
In recent years Houston has gone from "that other city in Texas" to a nationally recognized foodie destination. From humble greasy spoons to game-changing global spots, these are the dozen defining Houston restaurants.
Here are a few to try if you live here, want to live here or are just visiting!
Turkey Leg Hut
Turkey Leg Hut has become one of the city's most famous places to come try when in town. They offer huge, stuffed turkey legs and even bigger drinks. They are definitely a favorite of the locals and a must-visit for celebrities when they are in town. They offer lots of outdoor seating so of course when the weather is great, there is a line down the block so get there early!

Ritual
Like meat? Ritual has got you covered. The food here works great together as Texas style pulls in Southern and Creole ideas. Meat is carved straight off hanging slabs of beef and pork, and other pieces of dark, marbleized various cuts and steaks rest in a dry-aged room, waiting in a controlled environment to meet their 30 or 40 day ready mark.

The Original Ninfa's on Navigation
You can’t be in the “H” and not try Tex-Mex! That would be blasphemous. Since 1973, the Original Ninfa’s on Navigation has kept Houston well-fed on their famed Tex-Mex menu. They were recently nominated for a James Beard Award and named one of Houston’s Top 100 Restaurants by restaurant critic Alison Cook. 1 word, fajitas, fajitas, fajitas! Give them a try and I promise you won’t leave disappointed
